The International Relations Office (ORI) provides information and guidance, and manages the academic mobility programmes and the funding that enable students to study at other universities. Main mobility programmes are the following ones:
SICUE programme (Exchange System among University Centres in Spain) University Centres Exchange System is addressed to students with diploma courses, bachelor’s degrees in Technical Engineering and Technical Architecture and those who are taking the last two courses of a degree in Engineering or Architecture, as well as the students carrying out the bachelor’s thesis.
This programme is based on bilateral agreements between universities, so that the UdL students, who take a particular degree and are interested in pursuing a part of their study at another university in Spain, can apply for a place at that university, if the UdL has previously agreed with it an exchange programme of the same degree.
These bilateral agreements also establish the period of stay out of the UdL. A study period can take from 5 to 9 months within the same academic course. The duration of the stay has to coincide with the period of time mentioned in the offer.
Upon accepting the destination university and concluding all administrative procedures, students have to assume travel organization and other practical aspects of their stay.
Students who have been admitted have to enrol in the UdL and take a part of their studies at the destination university without paying any additional registration fees.
During their stay, the visiting students have the same academic rights and duties as the students from the destination university.

UdL Mobility Programme
This programme allows academic mobility with universities out of Europe such as those in Mexico, the United States, Canada, and Chile, among others.
Signing agreement on exchange of students with foreign universities
The main criteria followed by the UdL and the Escola Politècnica Superior when signing agreements with other universities are:
- Similarity of qualifications.
- Absence of an excessive offer of university places for students from the same country.
- Possible students’ interests.
- A good reception policy of the host university.
- Content and structure of the syllabus.
- Lecturing in English.

The selection of students who can take part in mobility programmes as well as the assignment of destination universities is performed by the School’s mobility coordinator.
Recognition of studies taken abroa
The subjects assessed in the destination centre are verified by the School’s mobility coordinator who approves the recognition of the subjects taken and passed. The qualification obtained becomes valid at the UdL upon receiving information concerned from the destination university.
